For Paris Gibson, her popular late-night radio show is both an escape and her one real contact with the outside world. Since moving to Austin to ease the pain of past, tragic mistakes, she has led a life of virtual solitude, coming alive only when she hosts her show. To her loyal listeners, she is a wise and trusted friend who not only takes their music requests but listens to their problems and occasionally dispenses advice. Paris's world of isolation is brutally threatened, however, when one listener -- a man who identifies himself only as "Valentino" -- tells her that her on-air advice to the girl he loves has caused her to leave him and that now he intends to exact his revenge. First he plans to kill the girl, whom he has abducted -- which he says he will do in 72 hours -- then he will come after Paris. Joined by the Austin police department, Paris plunges into a race against time in an effort to find Valentino before he can carry out his threat to kill -- and to kill again. To her dismay, she finds that one of the people she must work with is crime psychologist Dean Malloy, a man with whom she shares a history that had a catastrophic effect on both their lives. His presence arouses old passions, forcing Paris to confront painful memories that she had come to Austin to forget. As the clock ticks down, and Valentino's threats come closer and closer to becoming a reality, Paris suddenly finds herself forced to deal with a killer who may not be a stranger at all.

Well, another SB book. Another hit. Seriously, this woman can write. As with her other books, didn't read too many reviews. Didn't want spoilers. Sandra Brown does great sex scenes. They are not graphic, they just are. I feel them. "Dean, don't." Finally, they lay down face-to-face on her bed, virgin until now. Her hand coasted over his torso, down past his navel and into the dense hair surrounding his sex. She drew her finger up the length of his penis. He covered her hand with his and guided it up and down. "Jesus," he groaned. I cannot say too much with out giving the plot away. Just read it. As the clock ticks down, and Valentino's threats come closer and closer to becoming a reality, Paris suddenly finds herself forced to deal with a killer who may not be a stranger at all. I LOVED IT.

This is another Sandra Brown winner for me. As with the other SB books I have read, the plot and characters continue to be strong, fascinating and thrilling. Various threads are woven together to create a plot that will have questioning everyone and second guessing everything. Paris Gibson’s life has changed. Walking away from a past that has caused her pain and heartache she moves to Austin to do something different. Being a late night radio broadcaster, she loves music and the connection it creates with people. But the attention of one listener crosses the line and has Paris on edge. What had been an average call in, turns out to be cold and threatening. Dean Malloy works within the Austin PD as a psychologist with experience as a cop. He was a valuable asset and one that they used in situations like this. After the alarming call in, Paris had no choice but to contact the police. What she didn’t expect was to see Dean again. There was some dark stuff going on in this one. The plot was gripping and enticing. You’re sucked in from the beginning and kept engaged through the very last sentence. I know I really didn’t give you much to go on but that’s the way it has to be. I can’t say much because with a sexy thriller like this you need to just dive in and experience it yourself. And yes there were sexy moments. Again, the sex and romance is always second to the suspense. That doesn't cause it to be any less alluring. The deliverance of each and every kiss and touch leads to some AMAZING sex scenes. The anticipation is killer. ❤ ❤ Another highly recommended read!!

WOW! I had to screw my head back on tight after all the head spins in this book. I thought I had it figured out about 5 times then Boom! I had to refigure. A lot of touchy issues in this book, but don't criticize SB for it......it's life. One of her very best :)

I have mixed feelings with this read. I think its easier to do a breakdown for this one. Here it is: The pros: * It did have a good balance of suspense * The plot flowed well The cons: * There is cheating....... than one instance - that’s not something I personally care for * It seemed overly long and many of the details seemed redundant * Way too many characters - it really took away from the main characters development * Quite predictable Overall, this book was just ok for me. 5 STARS!!! My ultimate favorite of Ms. Brown's so far!! I admit that the second chance love story was a big factor on why I loved this book. I especially loved reading and discovering what happened in their past. In other news, I have yet to guess right who the villain was, AGAIN. My dreams of being a cop is dwindling everday. Lol. ;) SB-6 Gena-0

This was my first Sandra Brown book. I dunno. . .her writing just might not be for me, I think. The dialogue seemed so dry. I felt like I was reading a story about boring old people (lol, sorry!) The mystery aspect wasn't too bad, though.

I think this is the best book I've read by SB! The story is really interesting and the way it is told is simply perfect! While reading I felt like I was watching an episode from Criminal Minds! It was awesome! I love everything about this one: Paris, Dean, the story, the mystery, just everything! Bravo Ms. Brown! *applause*

A cheating plot is not necessarily a deal-breaker for me. Hello, Darkness is one of those books with subplots of cheating affair between H/h in the past and H being with another woman at the present. Great character development, second chance romance and suspense make the book worth reading.

Another intriguing, twisted suspense by one of the best! This one kept me guessing until the end as there are no less than three possible suspects to consider as the serial killer. I was continuously thrown off course by the numerous twists & turns in the complex storyline and by the cast including several characters hiding dark secrets. A Must Read!

Paris calls the police and, to her surprise, her old-time love Dean becomes involved as a police psychologist. They have to catch the killer fast or the girl is going to die. Most of the story focuses on the suspense and it's good. The intrigue, though sometimes lacking in development or logic, is entertaining. There are several suspects. In the end the killer turns out to be a person I have suspected the most and who I wished was a bad guy. I think I would be mad if he would be just one of the good guys, so it's okay. However, I didn't like the motives behind his actions, they are weak. The romance part is minor. Dean and Paris used to love each other and even though she is not eager to come back to the old relationship they quite quickly rebuilt the feelings between them. That's okay but I couldn't truly found the passion and love between them. I wish there is more interaction between Dean and his son since they make an interesting addition to the story. Those who already read some books by Sandra Brown know what to expect by this one. This is one of those books it's nice to read but you wouldn't remember in a year.

I won this novel in a goodreads drawing. The staple of countless cheesy Lifetime Channel movies is the story of the radio talk show hostess who is stalked by the usual maniac. She meets with the usual love interest, and the usual things happen. It all seems so cliched, so by the numbers. Maybe it's because I saw a rerun of the old comedy show Sledge Hammer! with the exact same premise just before I started that I feel so jaded concerning this book. But I don't think so. Totally skippable book.

Four hour air shift and she plays no commercials, and her show isn't syndicated? How does she get paid? She happens not to play Valentino's calls live, but she usually plays calls live, unheard of. As for the criminal profiler, Dean? He's not too bright because his profile fits the main suspect, but not the murderer. (Just in case you miss it, the police get it all wrong and technically do not catch the murderer). The Romance is nonsense too. I couldn't stand the hero or the heroine, so I guess they deserve each other.

I liked the romance in this one, but the mystery was kind of laboured. There was also a ton of slut-shaming. The hero's teenage son could get away with indiscriminate sexual activity and still be seen as a good kid, but the girls he did it with were villified.

So, itu bikin aku turn off pada keduanya.

She is expert at giving just enough information that makes you keep turning the pages to find out more. There are plenty of suspects who could be Valentino and his identity is not revealed until the exciting climax of the book. I highly recommend this book, but don't start it too late at night or you may find yourself staying up all night to finish it!
